Removing our address from Companies House via paper filing
Background Generally, when a customer continues to use our address without renewing their expired Registered Office/ Service Address we file to remove our address electronically – by replacing our address with the residential address we hold on file for them. However, when we are unable/ do not have authority to replace our address with a customer’s residential address we must file a paper filing to Companies House. We only have authority to update a company’s address to a residential address when the customer has the relevant expired service. This is because our authority to make such changes is determined by our Terms and Conditions – which are only agreed to when a customer has purchased the service previously. Examples of when a paper filing is required: Company is using our address at Companies House, but the required service was never purchased. Customer’s residential address is based outside of the UK/ relevant jurisdiction (Registered Office only). We do not have the authentication code for the company on file. Paper filings we use: Registered Office: Form RP07 is used. This disputes the use of our address to Companies House. Once approved the company’s registered office will be changed to the Companies House default address. This can only be changed again via another paper filing, with additional evidence to support the filing. Service Address: Form CH01 is used. This informs Companies House the customer no longer has authority to use our address. They will then update the address to the residential address they hold on file for the officer. The timescale for these filings to be approved is determined by Companies House – generally it takes around 3 weeks. How to log a required paper filing: These are to be logged when the company falls into the criteria in section 2 and you have attempted to contact the customer/ officer, or you are unable to contact the customer/ officer as they are unreachable. Requests should be logged via the SST Upsell Opportunities sheet > Retention – RO-SA tab. Fill in the company’s information – Company number and company name. Fill in the Brand if applicable – if they do not have an account with us fill this in as N/A. Fill in the Required Filing – see section 3. Fill in the Officer Name – Service Address changes only.
