How to Update Your Residential (Home) Address on Companies House's Internal Records

If you need to update your residential (home) address on the internal (private) records at Companies House, please follow the steps below.

Please note: the residential address is not displayed publicly. It is only visible to Companies House and certain public authorities.

Step 1: Create a Companies House WebFiling account (if you do not have one)

To make any updates, you will need to log in to Companies House WebFiling.

You can register for a WebFiling account here.

You will need your:

  • Company number
  • Companies House Authentication Code

Step 2: Log into Companies House WebFiling

Once your account is ready, go to:
https://idam-ui.company-information.service.gov.uk/

Log in using your email and password, then enter your company number and Authentication Code to access your company profile.

Step 3: Access officer details

After logging in, navigate to the section where your company officers (such as directors) are listed.

Select the officer whose residential address you would like to update.

Each officer has two address fields:

Residential address - this is held privately by Companies House
Correspondence address - this is shown on the public record

Step 4: Update the residential address only

Update the Residential Address section only.

If you are using our Service Address, the correspondence address should remain as our address to keep your residential address private on the public record.

Summary

  • Only update the residential (home) address
  • The residential address is private and not displayed publicly
  • The correspondence address is public and should not be changed
